Moeding College, Otse, Botswana.

Dumela! Bridget & Stephen Bradley were Maths teachers at the school from 1992 to 1994.

The school is situated on the edge of the Kalahari desert, on the northern side of Otse village between the capital of Botswana, Gaborone, and the town of Lobatse. At Otse are two notable landmarks, the highest point in Botswana and a Vulture reserve for the rapidly declining Cape Vulture. The land surrounding is acacia scrub. The school was built partly by the Government of Botswana and the London Missionary Society to replace their school at Tiger Kloof (near Vryburg in South Africa). Moeding was a boarding school for boys & girls from form 3 to form 5 (13 to 16 years). In 1992 Moeding celebrated it's 30th Anniversary, an occasion attended by the (now) president of Botswana Festus Mogae. In 1999 we both went back briefly to the school and were amazed at the investment in new buildings and infrastructure. (Indeed, this appeared to be mirrored across Botswana especially e.g. in relation to what was happening over the border in Zimbabwe.) New sposts facilities, indoor sports hall and new all-weather pitches, agriculture blocks and pig farm, modern sewage plant integrated with agriculture, new admin, new hostels, new classrooms all over, new housing.

Who says it's sunny in the middle of the desert?

Here the car has broken down after a hard rain shower.
